White Wine is Just As Good As Red
Rejoice white wine lovers and breathe a sigh of relief. A new study suggests that drinking one to two glasses per day of white wine may be just as good for your health as drinking the same one to two glasses of red wine. Finally, white wine is just as good as red.
An international team led by researchers at the University of Connecticut conducted the study and found that white wines offer similar heart and health benefits associated with red wines.
Red wine was considered “better” than white wine because red wine is made with the skin of the grape. The skin contains resveratrol. Resveratrol plays an important role in why red wine is considered heart healthy, while white wine is made with the pulp of the grape.
“The flesh of the grape can do the same job as the skin. We can safely say that one to two glasses of white wine everyday works exactly like red wine,” said lead researcher Dipak Das. The researchers based their findings on the effects of white wine on laboratory rodents.
I am particularly happy about this news. I have a few “red wine friends,” I won’t name names, who used the health benefits of red wine to preach superiority over white wine. Well, that all ends today.
Cheers!
